The $300 million dollar, new 144-bed inpatient hospital has reduced travel times to necessary health care for area patients, their families, and for critical ambulance transport. It's also be more convenient for patients referred to St. Elizabeth’s from smaller community hospitals, such as our HSHS hospitals in Breese and Highland and other partnering community hospitals in the Metro East. The replacement hospital will be about 350,000 square feet on 114 acres of land, compared to the almost 1,000,000 square feet of the current facility that sits on 17 acres in Belleville IL
